Unveiling Paul's Preaching To The Athenians Part 3

Continuing our examination of the Apostle Paul's communication to the pagans in Athens, let's explore the verses below. Get ready, as there are numerous truths in this passage that challenge traditional religious beliefs, particularly those familiar to me and maybe to you too. (See Note)

In our previous post, we highlighted that God does not require anyone to serve Him, and He does not reside in temples built by human hands. Let's recall the key points extracted from the passage together.

  • He is the God who made ALL and He is Lord

  • He does NOT dwell in buildings made by men

  • He is NOT helped by men

  • He gives LIFE and BREATH to all things

  • He made every RACE from ONE man (Adam)

  • He APPOINTED man's time to live on earth

  • He SET the boundaries (nations)

"From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries." Acts 17:26

This verse teaches us that all people from different nations originate from one man, as He is the creator of both man and nations. This revelation challenges a long-held belief I once held dear, which was the notion that God disapproves of interracial marriage and mixing of races. In my community, particularly between black and white individuals, intermarriage was strictly forbidden.

The division is often fueled by pride and a sense of superiority over others. While not everyone who holds this belief may exhibit this attitude, I have personally witnessed instances where pride played a significant role. I am familiar with the arguments and supposed biblical justifications for racial segregation.

Nevertheless, in this sermon given by the Apostle to the Gentiles, it is clear that we all come from one man. Indeed, God has predestined the growth and decline, as well as the territories of nations. However, this does not relate to the mixing of races. There is only one race, the human race!
